RID To Release 'Lightweight Traveler'
We are proud and excited to announce the addition of longtime Iowa City rockers Shoe Money to the RID family. We will be releasing their very fine fourth album 'Lightweight Traveler' in the coming months. Although a release date has yet to be set, 'Lightweight Traveler' should be available by early April. Stay tuned for further details!

Arp of the Covenant "Arp of the Covenant"

  $15.00
release date: Jan 2006

This album moves from rock monolith to jazz giant, in the sweep of a drumstick.
The music is at once in your face and subtle as a leaf on the wind. Starting with a dispatch from short wave radio, the album claims, “there is only one covenant” and launches into Bad Alternator. In your face construction meets in your face deconstruction.
This cut is quintessential Arp, as soon as the head has been defined the boys nosedive into the dark mess that is improvisation. They continue in this fashion, becoming more frantic, until they punch a hole through the end of the song.
In many ways, "Bad Alternator" is a blueprint for the rest of the album. The energy starts strong and continues to build until the climax. "Jennifer" shows off the band’s dynamic range. "Mr Li poses with his American birthday cake" is a testament to Zielinski’s melodic form and power as a composer. The final release comes with the band’s interpretation of Stripped, by Depeche Mode.
This CD represents what we at RID Records think Cds ought to be: a complete story, from beginning to end. Click here for more info.
